St. Mary School has been a participant in the International School to School Experience (ISSE) program since 1989. Past exchange countries in include Australia, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, and Mexico. Eight students selected from the fifth and sixth grades and a teacher-chaperone travel to the partner country. Delegates stay for 3 weeks, living in family homes, attending school, and visiting the region. The partner school sends students here for a similar stay with St. Mary School host students and families. Fifth and sixth grade students are invited to apply for this opportunity at the beginning of the school year.

Each Trimester Students in Grades 7 and 8 select usually a Fine Arts or Physical Education course which meets for a double period on Friday afternoons. These electives give students extended time to learn or improve skills in a particular area. Students meet in small groups with St. Mary Faculty or visiting instructors with expertise in these disciplines, or on location.

St. Mary Student Council consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students elected each fall by the Junior High students and teachers . Student council and the teacher moderators meet every week in the morning before school.

Student Council takes charge of a wide range of responsibilities from acting as hosts and hostesses for school visitors and setting up for school assemblies to coordinating community service activities such as the collection of toys for the Seven Hills Neighborhood Services’ Christmas store in the East End and a February food drive.


Cub Scout Pack 146 is a family program that supports family values — do your best; be honest; duty to family, God, and country — and family involvement.  Pack 146 has active Dens in every grade level from 1st through 5th grade.

Boy Scout Troop 170 was first chartered in March of 1928.   The troop is open to all boys age 10-18 years old.

Girl Scouts help girls grow to be caring, competent, and confident women.  St. Mary has troops from Kindergarten (Daisies) through Grade 7 (Cadettes.)
