School Day

Hours

School begins at 8:40 AM and dismisses at 3:30 PM. Students may enter the building at 8:30 and be ready to start the school day promptly at 8:40. Students may start gathering on the playground no earlier than 8:15. In case of bad weather, they may enter the school building and wait in the cafeteria.

Lunch Program

A nutritious hot lunch and milk are served in the cafeteria for $2.25 per day for students ($2.50 for visiting adults). Children who bring their lunches may purchase milk for 35 cents. Free and reduced lunches are available for those who qualify. The lunch menu is published every other week.

Parents are always welcome to come to school to eat lunch with their children. Please check in at the school office. Verify lunch times and playground times when planning your visit.

Uniform Policy

All students are expected to dress neatly and appropriately at all times – even on out-of-uniform days. Neat and appropriate appearance includes, but is not limited to cleanliness, size of clothes and modesty, as well as logos, graphics or messages printed on clothes.

School Attire

  • Uniform skirts and navy blue dress shorts must be worn TO THE KNEE. Navy blue dress shorts are acceptable attire for all students during warm weather in the first and fourth quarters of the school year.
  • Socks and shoes with low heels must be worn at all times. Socks must cover the ankles and be without logos.
  • Girls wear the uniform plaid jumper (Kindergarten – Grade 5) or skirt (Grades 6, 7, 8) TO THE KNEE. Socks, tights, and legwear worn under the uniform must be white or navy blue.
  • Male and female students may wear navy blue dress pants with NO rivets or patch pockets. Jeans--any style-- are prohibited. Stretch pants are not permitted.
  • White uniform shirts for all students must be dress shirts with a collar or an official St. Mary logo "polo" shirt. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. Only the top button may be open.
  • Uniform sweatshirts must be one of the approved uniform sweatshirts with the St. Mary logo. "Spirit Wear" or "Cougar Gear" sweatshirts are NOT acceptable uniform attire. Sweaters must be plain navy blue with no logos, monograms, or decorations of any kind.
  • White turtleneck sweaters may be worn UNDER the required uniform shirts. T-shirts worn under the uniform shirt must be plain white and no graphics may show through.

The Lands' End School online catalog is one option to outfit your children with uniforms. Select your product category and enter St. Mary School Code 9000-9600-9 when prompted after you have selected your item. The school logo information will then be available. Please select items in accordance to our uniform policy.

ON GYM DAYS all students must wear gym shoes. Shorts and slacks are also recommended.

SPIRIT WEAR DAYS Students may wear Spirit Wear or Cougar Gear on the first Friday of every month and other special days as announced. Students may wear a designated spirit or school team shirt or pants in place of the uniform shirt, shorts, pants, or skirt. The regular uniform shirt or pants must be worn if Spirit Wear or Cougar Gear does not replace it. Spirit/Cougar boxer shorts and sweatpants may be worn under uniform jumpers or skirts, or on their own during gym classes.
